|
Dr. Lance Kennedy Phillips Sustaining a Culture of Evidence in Student Affairs It is impossible to develop and sustain a culture of evidence in student affairs without commitment, consistency, connection, and communication. Student affairs divisions must develop a culture of evidence to support the decision-making processes of the division and demonstrate the impact of its services on student learning and success. A strong and sustained culture of evidence is vital to any student affairs organization and does not happen without hard work and intervention. This session will explore these topics and provide best practice examples for participants to model on their campuses as they move the assessment discussion to the next level.

The Sex Minister, Barbara Lee Author, LLC
www.barbaraleeauthor.com • 616-502-2078
Our culture has largely promoted a Marriage Ethic when it comes to sex. Such an ethic has nothing to say to our young people, gay or lesbian people who are not allowed to marry in many parts of the country, widowed or divorced people, or anyone who isn’t married. It also implicitly condones abusive and demeaning behavior as long as it takes place within a legally recognized union. This workshop will explore the Marriage Ethic and why it needs to be replaced by a Sexual Ethic. The elements of a Sexual Ethic will be discussed and participants will have the opportunity to draft their own Sexual Ethic while also exploring how this can be a useful tool for students.
